After a long day at work and chaotic afternoon of running errands, a cup of tea and a piece of left over cake sounded delicious when I got home. Normally I would reach for my everyday Corelle dishes, but thankfully, I have recently managed to organize much of my depression glass collection in a way that makes it easily accessible for everyday use. My goal is to use these beloved dishes more frequently than just the few times a month when I entertain.
It was an absolute delight to enjoy some lemon cake and elderflower tea from pieces of my Fenton Emerald Crest collection. Rather than scarfing down these items while standing at the kitchen counter responding to emails, I was actually able to sit back and not only enjoy my snack, but appreciate what I was eating it off of.
I hope that other depression glass collectors attempt to make more regular use of their dishes. I can tell you that it is well worth the tiny bit of extra effort. Just please remember to not get lazy – hand wash these items at the end – NO dishwashers allowed!
